Return to School September 2020
Return to school for all- September 2020
Attendance for all children September 2020
From the beginning of the Autumn term, it is the government’s expectation that all pupils in all years will return to school full time. Penalty notices for unauthorised absence will be issued following the code of conduct.
Holidays
If your child takes a holiday during term time you as a parent will receive a penalty notice fine of £60 per child per parent. Request for leave of absence forms are available from the main office, they must be completed at least two weeks prior to the leave and school MUST be notified of your holiday destination. There are no limits on the times a penalty notice for unauthorised absence can be issued in an academic year.
Medical appointments
If possible, all medical appointments need to be booked out of school hours, if this is not possible then you will need to provide evidence of the appointment to the office staff prior to the appointment. This could be a letter, appointment card, text or email.
Reporting illness/absence
If your child is absent from school due to illness you must inform the school on day. If you do not report the illness or reason for absence this will be recorded as an unauthorised absence. If you do not contact school you will receive a text message asking you to reply with the reason for your child’s absence. At least 20 sessions of unauthorised absence over a period of 12 weeks or less, will result in you as a parent being issued with a penalty notice. These absences DO NOT need to be consecutive.
Lateness
Children need to be in school by their allocated time, if not your child will be registered as late. Late arrivals are disruptive to the whole class and are often embarrassing for the child. Arrival after the close of registration will be marked as an unauthorised absence code ‘U’ in line with the DFE guidelines. If your child is late you must walk them to the main school office in order for them to be signed in, they will have to follow the year one classes in. If your child has 10 ‘U’ codes over a 12 week period (they do not have to be after one another) you will be issued with a penalty notice.
You should have already received an email informing you of your child’s start and finish time for September, we will send out a text message before the start of term reminding you of these times.
