Attendance
At Bridgtown we aim for all children to achieve at least 97% attendance. These targets cover the number of authorised and unauthorised absences and the number of times a child is late. It is a parents/carers legal responsibility to bring their child to school on time every day. We have a very good system in place for tracking absences. Mrs Murray, our attendance officer, has the responsibility of contacting parents on the first day of absence and monitoring every child's attendance in school. Should a child's attendance fall below 97% a reminder letter will be sent. If the child's attendance continues to fall and reaches between 90-93.9% a further letter will sent and medical evidence will need to be provided for any further absences if due to illness. If no improvement is made parents/carers will be invited into school for a meeting and if the child falls into the Red group this will trigger a referral to the Education Welfare Worker.
The Goverment issued colour codes for tracking attendance, the meanings for these can be found below along with our Attendance Policy.
