Purple, Orange and Yellow Class

Welcome to Year 1 and Year 2. We currently have one Year 1 class, a mixed Year 1/2 class and a Year 2 Class.

PE Days

PE for Year 1 and Year 2 is on a Wednesday. Children need to make sure their PE kit is in school.




Welcome back after the Christmas break, we hope you have had an enjoyable time. We have lots of exciting things planned for the Spring term!


In Maths Purple Class will be looking at place value, addition and subtraction and shape. Yellow Class and Orange Class will be looking at problem solving with money, starting their work on shape and multiplication and division. Please help your child continue to learn their number bonds to 10, 20 and 100 as well as timetables as these are extremely important skills.


In English, Purple Class are reading stories from around the world. They will be again concentrating on spelling, grammar and punctuation (GPS). Yellow Class and Orange Class are going to continue their work on traditional tales.  There will continue to be a focus on stories with familiar settings, instruction and poetry.


Topic this term is based on 'Around the World' children will be learning about the differences between countries and looking at their significant events. We will learn about significant people such as Neil Armstrong and Christopher Columbus. In Science we will focus on animals and classification. We have organised a visit from Pets at Home to bring some animals for the children to see.


Homework is given out on a Friday with spellings and must be completed by the following Wednesday. Please can parent’s help children complete.

Please continue to support your child’s reading at home as much as possible. We would also encourage you to write a comment in their home/school diary, building their confidence and the link between home and school. Any extra practise at home is always welcomed!
